Carlos Avila

Carlos Avila is a dedicated and accomplished baseball player, coach, and mentor.

Carlos Avila is a dedicated and accomplished baseball player, coach, and mentor. Drafted in the 32nd round by the Minnesota Twins in the 2013 MLB Draft, Carlos spent three years honing his skills with the team. His early achievements include being a 2x All-State Player in high school and earning the 1st team South Coast Conference title. In 2010, Carlos was awarded the prestigious Gold Glove for his outstanding performance as a shortstop.

In 2018, Carlos shifted his focus to nurturing the next generation of baseball talent. He founded the Top Notch Academy, a youth program that has developed and groomed some of California’s top young baseball players. Carlos’s passion for coaching has led to an impressive eight national titles for his teams in the 9u-14u age brackets.

In 2020, Carlos joined forces with ZT to form the ZT Prospect Academy, further expanding his impact on the baseball community. Carlos’s dedication to coaching goes beyond the field, as he finds immense joy in helping young athletes grow into not just exceptional baseball players, but also responsible and well-rounded individuals.

Rick Martinez is a versatile athlete, firefighter, and coach, whose background shapes his approach to mentoring young athletes.

Athlete, Firefighter, and Inspirational Coach

Rick Martinez is a well-rounded athlete, firefighter, and coach, whose background and experiences have shaped his approach to mentoring young athletes. A three-sport star at La Habra High School, Rick continued to excel in baseball at San Diego State University before embarking on a brief minor league career with the Montreal Expos.

After transitioning away from professional baseball, Rick found a new calling as a firefighter. Today, he serves as a Captain with the Los Angeles City Fire Department, where he demonstrates the same dedication, discipline, and teamwork that he instills in his players.

For the past six years, Rick has been coaching travel baseball, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with the next generation. Under his guidance, his teams have claimed three National Championships, a testament to his ability to foster teamwork and personal excellence in his players.

Coach Rick believes in teaching valuable life skills through baseball, emphasizing the importance of discipline, dedication, and striving for personal excellence. By instilling these principles in his players, Rick prepares them for success not only on the field but also in the real world.

Omar Avila

Omar is currently our 11u ZT national prospects coach. Coach Omar has worked with a multiple of ages ranging from 8u and up.

Omar is currently our 11u ZT national prospects coach. Coach Omar has worked with a multiple of ages ranging from 8u and up. He played at Junior College LA Harbor, D1 UTPA now formally known as UTRGV, and NAIA Marymount California University. He has been an assistant coach for 2 national championship teams. Coach Omar also has coached High School baseball at Valencia High School and Rancho Dominguez High school. He has a BA degree in Human Performance, and Coach Omar specializes infield and hitting work.

Jeysen Delgado

Jeysen currently serves as the director of strength and agility at ZT Prospects Academy.

Jeysen currently serves as the director of strength and agility at ZT Prospects Academy. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from William Penn University, and his Masters of Arts in Kinesiology from the University of California, Long Beach. He was a 1st Team All-Conference, Gold Glove Award Winner, and scholarship baseball player at William Penn. He is currently an assistant baseball coach at El Camino Community College, and has been an assistant coach at Los Angeles Harbor College as well.

“My goal is to transform these young student-athletes into the best version of themselves as not only athletes but also members of the community. When ZT Prospects athletes go through my program, they gain an increase in overall physical skills and mental strength. When they leave this program, they will be better, faster, stronger, and ready to take on any challenge in both sports and life.”

Keith Ginter is a 6-year MLB veteran and former 10th round pick of the Houston Astros.

Keith Ginter is a 6-year MLB veteran and former 10th round pick of the Houston Astros. In his career he hit 38 home runs and had 236 hits. He played second and third base during his time in the Major Leagues. Currently, Keith coaches a 12U team in California and is a hitting coach.
